Eleanor’s Journey - regaining strength, improving my self esteem and feeling sexy again!
After having two children, Eleanor was on a path to find herself again. Read about her journey at Altitude Pole Hamilton💗
Tell us about why you started and how your first class at Altitude went!
“I started pole in May 2023. I have always admired the strength and beauty in pole dancing, it feels close to flying at times, but I lacked the confidence for a long time to give it a go. After having my 2 daughters (2 and 5 y/o) I decided to go on a journey to regain my strength, improve my self-esteem and feel sexy again.
My first class was a beginner flow, and I was incredibly nervous! It was a very sexy style and I had to work hard to let go of my inhibitions. After 2 kids I wasn't feeling my most sexy, but the support from the instructor and the other students was empowering. It’s truly a place filled with cheerleaders and people who genuinely want to see everyone around them succeed.”
What do you like about pole dancing?
“I love many aspects of pole dancing! I love the freedom to be creative with your own style, the physical challenge and the progression. We as students can set the pace for our pole journey, but the instructors are awesome at knowing how to push us to get the most out of us too. I love the people within the pole community who make it a safe place to try. It really is the most empowering space I've been in. Fellow students and instructors are always there to celebrate the wins, offer tips and support during the frustrations and pick us up when we fall (literally 🤣).”
Is there anything about pole dancing that’s really challenged you?
“I am still working on what my flow style is, and letting my guard down and being playful when it comes to free-styling and putting together combos. I would love to one day enter a competition, as the idea scares the shit out of me, but I’d love to prove to myself that I can do it.”
P.S you totally can do it Eleanor! We support this! 😉
Have you grown as a person looking back?
“Most definitely! I am the strongest I have ever been, and I feel more confident in my body's ability, so I now face new challenges without the fear I had in the beginning. This has also helped me to have a new respect for my post children body and I have learnt to be kinder to myself.”
Any advice to give to someone looking to start at Altitude?
“Just to take everything at your own pace. If you find something difficult, there will be something else you will nail the first time. Hold on to the wins and keep trying with the challenges, as they will come eventually. I would also say just have fun, but that’s a given when you are surrounded by such an awesome bunch of people!”
Final words?
“Thanks to Altitude Hamilton for helping me find my spark.”
Thanks so much for sharing your journey with us Eleanor! We love having you at Altitude and hearing about just how life changing this has been for you! ❤️
