"Use it or Lose it" - A classic saying but also an unfortunate truth when it comes to our bodies..!

It can be easy to think we have lots of time. If you're in your 20s/30s/40s, hitting 70 is still a lifetime away!

"I'll start exercising next year";

"I'll get healthy one day";

"Doesn't matter, I'm still young!"

And hey, ultimately you do you boo! We are all for enjoying life, eating the treats and just soaking in the moment. But wouldn't it be nice to be able to do that your WHOLE life, rather than just now?

The mahi you put in now to your health and wellbeing, will be a game changer when you're older! Especially if you are a female or AFAB (assigned female at birth) human, because unfortunately our bodies start slowing down sooner than you think 🙈🙈

If you've started getting ads on social media talking about health supplements or perimenopause there is probably a reason for that.. 😅

Perimenopause is what your body goes through BEFORE menopause, and it can start in your late 30s..! It's the time when your body is getting ready to go through menopause, but you can experience a lot of the same symptoms! Irregular periods, hot flashes, mood shifts and sleep issues. Sounds fun right? 🙃

This shift in our hormones, along with sarcopenia (which is the reduction in muscle mass/strength/function as we age) also puts us at a higher risk of osteoporosis, injury, and general creakiness. AKA super not ideal, did not sign up for this, where can I get a refund! 😂

LUCKILY, you can actually reduce the impact that these changes have on your body through strength training!

Those who lift, push, and pull heavy things (yes, including their own body weight) can preserve muscle, keep their metabolism fired up, and reduce the impact of all of the above! 🙌🙌

If your exercise routine currently looks like a walk down the beach or a run at the park - that's great! Cardio fitness does wonders for our heart health. But if muscle is what you’re trying to build (or keep), it’s not enough. You need resistance. You need load. You need movement that challenges your muscles to grow 💪

Strength training - whether that’s lifting weights, resistance exercises, or bodyweight movements - does just that.

Enter.. Pole Dancing 😎

Pole dancing is strength training in disguise! It utilises our WHOLE body, works our core muscles and helps boost our bone and joint health with weight-bearing exercises!

If the thought of lifting a barbell in a gym makes you yawn, that's where pole dancing slides in (literally) as the ultimate strength-building workout 😍💪🙌

The bottom line though? Find a workout that makes you STRONG.

Being strong isn’t about chasing a certain body type. It’s about being able to show up fully - now and in the future.

Whether it’s pole, resistance bands, barbells or bodyweight - find something that keeps you coming back. Consistency is key!

Remember - do the mahi, get the treats! And having full mobility and independence as you age feels like a pretty great treat to us!! 🩷
