I began pole dancing in February of this year. A few months before that, I'd attended a FriYay class with a couple of friends, and it took me a while to muster the confidence to actually join but I'm so happy that I did!
My first class was super fun and welcoming, even though it felt like the only thing I could manage was pole walks, lol. After that class, I really wanted to do more, and each week, noticing my progress definitely kept me coming back.
Pushing through the pain and bruising has certainly been challenging, but so, so worth it! The change in my body confidence has also been significant, I'm starting to feel more and more confident in that regard, which is awesome. I feel like my overall confidence as a person has grown, affecting the way I present myself to others and how I see myself as well.
What I love about pole dancing is the environment and support at Altitude, and the feeling of being like a badass when I finally nail a move! If you're thinking of giving pole dancing a go, my advice would be to give it your all and trust yourself because you’re capable of more than you think you are!
