Guys & Pole - Paul from Altitude North Shore
We're excited to introduce you to another one of our male Altitudians! Paul is a student from our North Shore studio in Auckland. We'd love for you to get to know him... so grab a cuppa, get comfy and read Paul's story with Altitude 😍
From what made him decide to give it a go, to how he felt on day 1... to now!
So, Paul, how long have you been pole dancing for?
About 8 months.
What made you decide to give pole dancing a try?
A friend recommended it and thought why not!
What was it like when you first started?
Was quite nervous initially but everyone is really supportive, instructors and students. It's not like a standard gym where you turn up and may never talk to anyone. Everyone talks to you and asks how things are going, it's a very supportive environment.
What's it like now?
Very much the same but now have closer relationships with everyone and part of supporting others. We have a lot of fun much more than your run of the mill gym classes like Les Mills, that hasn't changed from day one. Warning: it's additive! My body is much stronger and I'm feeling great.
Which polers inspire you the most?
Everyone at the studio, new students, instructors, experience polers. Everyone is going on a journey and everyone inspires me in different ways. Watching instructors and students that do stuff that I can't imagine myself doing and then see new students that learning the things I couldn't do which I can now, it encourages you to reach any goal.
What would you say to any guy thinking about giving it a go?
Just do it. You don't know unless you change. Everyone has their own style, and with the other supporting classes, stretch, barre, aerial and flow you get to design what works for you. Trust me once you start you won't want to stop!
