We’re here to bring you something totally different to your week. Pole has a funny way of filling gaps we didn't know we had, and we love watching students surprise and delight themselves – finding excitement, switching their brains off for a while, and discovering sides of themselves they never knew were there.

If you're brand new, the easiest way to start is our $99 Starter Pack – 6 classes over 3 weeks. It gives you time to settle in, try different classes and get a proper feel for whether pole is your thing.

Our studio is just up from Northlands Mall in Ōtautahi, Christchurch. Classes are small, our instructors get to know you, and Redwood is proudly owner-operated – hi, I’m Michelle. I’ve been part of the pole community since 2009, and I care a lot about making this studio your happy place.

What to expect.

You might be ready for something new, while still needing to work up the nerve to actually start – we get it! A lot of our students remember wondering if they'd be fit, strong or coordinated enough, whether they'd fit in, or what on earth they'd be walking into.

So we make a pretty big deal out of looking after you when you start! When you purchase your Starter Pack, we'll help you with the booking app and choosing classes, meet you at the studio before your first class to show you around and let you know what to expect, then check in with you along the way - including a Starter Session to chat about how you're going and what you'd like to try next.

Basically, we want to make starting feel as easy as possible, so you can get on with enjoying it.

We've got a great range of classes to choose from. Alongside Pole Level 1 through to Level 5, you'll find spin, choreography, combos, stretch, strength, balance, heels and more!

Brand new? Beginner really does mean beginner. Look for the ⭐ on our timetable to see the classes you can jump into from the start.

As you progress, more options open up. And if you've poled before, you're going to love the range of classes and instructors to choose from.

Will I fit in?

Yes. The community at Altitude is actually the thing people talk about most. It tends to make even the most nervous first-timers feel at home pretty fast. It's our best flex.

What if I struggle in class?

Finding your feet with something new is just part of the process - and honestly, it's where a lot of the fun lives. Every class is full of people all figuring it out together.

Do I need to be fit or strong to start?

Nope. Level 1 is designed for people starting from scratch - no experience, no upper body strength required. That stuff comes with the classes.

Pole & Booty Instructor

Some of the classes waiting for you.

Back Flex

All-levels, beginner-friendly class. An upper-body focused flexibility class aimed at developing strength and flexibility across the back and shoulders. This class will cover both stretching as well as tricks - bridges, balances, shoulder/chest/head stands, needle scales etc. Ideal cross-training to improve pole lines, gain deeper back bends and strengthen overhead movement. This is a 75 minute class.

Spin Pole

Our Spin Pole classes focus on learning how to dance on a spinning pole and create beautiful and dynamic combos. You'll be challenged in new ways and amazed at what you can achieve. A spinning pole is a setting on our poles that can make them spin in the direction of your movements from your body weight and momentum. This is different to our regular Levels classes that are on static poles that don't move.

Training

Training Times are designed for experienced pole dancers who are looking for more time on the pole and the opportunity to work on their own skills. These sessions are exclusively available to our training time add-on pack holders and Diamond members, so you can maximize your pole practice and take your skills to the next level. These sessions don't have an instructor taking them, so you will need to be approved prior to attending.

What comes after a Starter Pack?

That would be one of our memberships.

At some point pole stops being something you're testing out and starts being something you just... do.

Classes get a permanent slot in your week. You might start scheduling the rest of your life around them (which is actually just making yourself a priority, ya know?)
