Donna

Pole instructor

Joined pole several years ago because it was something different, a new way to keep fit, and absolutely loved it. The space felt safe, it was non judgemental, everyone was different but all connected, friendships were easily formed, and there seemed to be something for everyone. Still loving making those connections, and seeing students finding their potential or reaching their goals, and finding that confidence within themselves

Saf

Pole Instructor

Saf started her pole journey by chance in 2012 where she tried a class with a friend. She soon developed a passion for pole. She has even competed and won a couple of amateur pole competitions in NZ Amateur Pole Performer and Pole Inferno, despite no formal dance or gymnastics training and taking time out to grow another human! In the last few years, Saf’s added aerial silks to her skill set to help diversify her training. She hopes to continue to learn, grow and evolve herself; as well as inspire those new or existing to the aerials scene, to do what truly sets their soul on fire!

Andrea

Andrea started pole about 4 years ago, hoping it would be a fun way to exercise and meet some new people. She fell in love with it from her first class and ever since has constantly had a huge list of pole goals to be working on. She loves the challenge of conquering new moves and also the sense of empowerment and self-confidence she has gained through pole. To begin with she had no intention of ever performing in front of an audience but is learning never to say never as since then she has entered NZAPP a couple of times and performed in studio shows and even enjoyed it. She looks forward to helping students on their pole journey and seeing where pole will take them.

Katie

Head Instructor

Katie has been a part of of the pole dance world for 9 years, and stumbled into the aerial and circus world about 6 years ago.
Since she began, Katie knew quickly that this was something she was passionate about and worked hard in the competition and performance side of pole dancing, eventually teaching all levels of pole dance, while also gaining multiple skills at a beginner to early intermediate level for aerial arts.
Aerial hoop, trapeze and tissu/silks, Chinese pole, handbalancing and equilibristics were amongst the many things she learnt to do and teach the foundations of, especially realised her love and knack for teaching kids, youth, and people with special needs.
While majority of her experience comes from Wellington, Katie moved up to Tauranga in 2019 and became immersed in teaching at both the Mount and Hamilton Studios, mostly for pole dance but also with kids aerial classes.
After becoming a guide for the instructors and helping to develop a more detailed curriculum for pole dance, Katie is ready to take the role of Head Instructor with Altitude and implore some of her experience and skills.
With a history of Retail Management and Administration, and plenty of experience emceeing for various Pole Shows, Katie has a love of and wants to ensure that everyone’s experience with Altitude is positive, welcoming and accepting whether they are an instructor or a student.

Larissa

I started my fitness journey many years ago in an effort to be healthier, stronger and lose some weight, but quickly lost motivation. But then I discovered the studio's pole fitness classes and loved it from day one, so naturally I took up the hoop and silks classes as soon as they first started and loved them even more. The studio not only gave me the fitness motivation I needed, but all the wonderful teachers and students were always so supportive and friendly, they really helped me come out of my shell and I have so much more confidence in everything I do now and I would love to be able to be a part of that for other students to come. My whole life is very fitness and gym centered, I have been doing all three aerial classes for over 5 years now (with a couple of breaks in between because life isn't always so accommodating) but I have always come back to it for the pure love of it.
